Scape Game, a brainchild of Antídoto Design and produced entirely by me, combines the thrill of escape rooms with the physical realm of a car for a unique interactive event experience.

Introduction

In the recent years, escape rooms have captivated audiences with their immersive, challenging, and intriguing puzzles. Drawing inspiration from this concept, Antídoto Design envisioned a unique project that could transcend the traditional boundaries of an interactive event for Movida, a prominent car rental company. The idea was to integrate the escape room experience within a physical car, an ambitious endeavor that would require extensive expertise in hardware and software development.

Challenge

The challenge was multilayered: designing a functional vehicle that could double as an escape room, crafting compelling puzzles that would draw participants in, and hacking a digital lock system to integrate it with the escape game mechanism. This digital lock required reverse-engineering, a meticulous task demanding an advanced understanding of hardware and software systems. Furthermore, the overall implementation of this novel concept had to be achieved single-handedly.

Solution

In response to this challenge, I undertook the project's entire execution - from the earliest stages of planning to the final stages of implementation. The game's backbone was a sequence of secrets embedded within the car. Upon deciphering these secrets, the participants would unlock the room's door, successfully "escaping". This not only engaged the players with an intriguing challenge but also highlighted the features of Movida's rental cars. A discovered security flaw in the digital lock system was responsibly reported to its manufacturer, ensuring broader safety measures.

Conclusion

The Scape Game was a resounding success at the car event, as attendees were drawn to this innovative combination of a car and escape room challenge. It redefined the boundaries of interactive event experiences, illustrating the powerful potential of tech-savvy software development, hardware engineering, and creative game design. More importantly, it fostered a deeper connection between Movida's products and the attendees. The Scape Game stands as a testament to creative problem-solving and audience engagement, and it remains an extraordinary feat that was ideated by Antídoto Design and executed entirely by me.
